I saw this picture on Facebook yesterday. An American family that I follow, had posted a picture of the husband, after he’d fitted their baby’s car seat, whom they’re excitedly waiting to arrive. So true to the picture above, along came the ‘perfect parents’ who said they’d fitted it wrongly!
It made me wonder why some people are always telling parents that what they are doing is wrong? As parents, we are all trying to do our best, whether it’s toddlers or teenagers. Which is a tough job we can all acknowledge!
Since I’ve been blogging. It’s been so refreshing to see all the other parents, all supporting each other, offering advice and not judging others on the choices they make whilst raising their family.
Is there really such a think as a ‘perfect parent’…?
Enjoy your week

Hear hear, Lyn. There is no such thing. We Have to make mistakes so let our children grow. We have to teach them that it’s ok to make mistakes. You learn from them. Xx lovely idea for a post xx

There’s definitely no such thing as the perfect parents – we all do the best we can with the knowledge we have and choices we make. There is no right and wrong. I agree with Ali too in that we need to let our children make mistakes themselves in order to learn and grow xxx

I sometimes feel that I am a terrible parent. But we all make mistakes, and the only knowledge we can draw from is how we were raised. Great post. #brilliantblogposts

I suppose it depends on the subject field. Something like a wrongly fitted car seat I’d be happy about someone telling me it was wrong, better that than the alternative possibility… But when it comes to actual parenting (as opposed to technical advice on car seats) you’re right that none of us are perfect, and every child is as individual as their fingerprints, so an outside opinion is rarely useful. Just smile and nod 🙂

Helpful advice is always welcome. I think it’s the way some people go about saying things, for example the car seat. It can just come across unpleasant. Thanks for your comment.

Good point. I think ultimately people are worried about appearances so feel the need to pull others down to make themselves feel better for their incompetence. Sad really, but I can say this in the knowledge that I’m a Perfect Parent. Haha.

Fab post. I think about this a lot. I think the main criticisms come From when people post on Facebook. I am so proud of my girls and when I share achievements with family on there, I suppose I could come across as “look how perfect my family is” but those who know me and read my blog will know I constantly question myself. We are all the perfect parents for our own children despite us not being perfect. It is sad that other parents feel they need to criticise and belittle others, when we are all basically trying to do the same thing – raise our kids as best we can.

All of us are perfect parents. The perfect parents for our children anyways! And I just glanced at Karen’s comment above mine and notice she’s said exactly the same thing, wise woman that one. So…What she said 😉 Thanks for linking up with #SundayStars xxx
